Seasonal Care of Your Eclipse Shading Systems® Retractable Awnings

Eclipse retractable awnings for sun protectionThis is the time of year when weather can typically become unpredictable. You may be considering taking your awnings down for the cooler months, but no matter where you live there are a few things you should know to make sure your retractable awnings are protected and ready for a new season.

Eclipse retractable awning fabric maintenance should be a top priority throughout the year and especially when preparing it for storage. First, make sure the fabric is free of all debris and that there is nothing hiding in a crease or fold. Next, carefully and closely examine the fabric to ensure that no staining has occurred from leaves, sticks, or the remains of insects that were stuck to the fabric. In most cases, simply spraying off the fabric with a hose will be sufficient. If hosing isn’t enough, try warm water, a gentle soap, and a soft non-abrasive cloth. When you are certain that the awning fabric is clear of all debris and the effects of possible stains spread it out and let it air dry. Do not roll up the fabric until you are certain that it is completely dry.

An additional step you can take to extend the life of your awning is to look around at the shrubbery and trees near your retractable awning and keep them well trimmed, removing any loose branches or surrounding debris that could end up causing damage.

Your Eclipse retractable frame and hardware need your attention as well. Signs of rust can be quickly eliminated by spraying and wiping with a clean soft cloth. If you hear any creaking when the joints move, use a gentle lubricant to loosen them up.

Eclipse solar protection is the best in the industry and you want to protect your investment with proper care while you look forward to a new season and many, many seasons to come of relaxing in your expanded outdoor living space.
