How to Win

This is a contest, not a drawing. We’re looking for the entry that shows us the space that deserves it the most.

  1. Show us your space. Upload a photo of your patio, deck or porch.
  2. Tell us your story. In a few sentences, describe how shade would change the way you use that space.
  3. Our panel selects the winner based on published criteria – see below.

Judging Criteria: Entries are scored by a panel of Eclipse Shading judges on:

  • Written response: how clearly and compellingly you describe the difference shade would make
  • Suitability of the space: how well an Eclipse awning would fit and serve your outdoor area
  • Creativity: originality and thoughtfulness of your entry

The highest-scoring entry wins. Winners are selected on merit, not by chance.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all prize. The winner works with Eclipse Shading to design a custom retractable awning for their space:

  • Your fabric. Choose from hundreds of Sunbrella® colors and patterns – 100% acrylic, fade-resistant, and backed by a 10-year warranty on fabric and seams.
  • Your hardware. Select the frame color that matches your home.
  • Your size. Custom-measured for your space, up to 16 feet wide.
  • Motorized convenience. One push of a button and it’s out. 
  • Professional installation. Measured, mounted, and installed by a local certified Eclipse dealer.

The Fine Print

  • No purchase necessary. Entering is free.
  • Who can enter: Legal residents of the 50 United States, 18 years or older, who own their home. Renter are not eligible – the prize includes permanent professional installation. 
  • How to enter: Complete the entry form on this page, including a photo of your outdoor space and a short written description. One entry per household. Duplicate entries will be disqualified.
  • Entry deadline: September 8, 2026 at 11:59PM ET.
  • How the winner is chosen: This is a skill-based contest. All eligible entries will be judged by a panel of Eclipse Shading representatives against the published criteria (written response, suitability of the space, and creativity). The highest-scoring entry wins. The winner will be notified by phone or email on or about September 15 and announced publicly on September 15.
  • The prize:  One custom Eclipse retractable awning with Sunbrella® fabric, including professional installation. Approximate retail value: $8,000. Prize is non-transferable and has no cash value. Winner is solely responsible for all federal, state, and local taxes on the prize. The prize value will be reported to the IRS, and the winner will be issued a Form 1099-MISC.
