A&A International, now better known as A&A Awnings and Storm Shutters, was founded in 1981 when a German family brought a popular European concept to the US — retractable awnings for patios and decks. The product was relatively new here, but the family knew how retractable awnings helped Europeans get more enjoyment from their outdoor spaces. They believed Americans would also want to “extend” their backyard fun with this unique product. Much time and effort was required to build awareness of the product and its availability, but once people started realizing home retractable awnings and commercial retractable awnings could transform outdoor areas into beautifully shaded retreats, the products took off.
If our customers have any regrets about their retractable awning, fixed awning, motorized screen or hurricane shutter purchase decision, it’s that they didn’t make it sooner.
